While writing the last post in my confessional, I realized I hadn't created a proper Episode thread yet, and I hate keeping everything in the Introduction, so yeah. Aloha! I'm Stitch, and I'm very excited and nervous to be playing this game! It's going to be quite the hassle keeping up with 23 players, especially since I got a bit of a late start thanks to work, but I'm going to try to talk to as many players as I can. I think I'm a fairly well-rounded player overall. I'm a bit weak challenge-wise, but otherwise I have a fairly decent social and strategic game. Though, sometimes I tend to get a bit too chatty and have a hard time trying to transition into game talk sometimes, but hopefully I can try to remedy that this game! This game is going to take some getting used to, but hopefully I'll catch onto the mechanics soon enough. I haven't read the challenge yet (except for the fact that it's some sort of eye exam), but I have received and sent some PMs to some players. The only player I've actually had a proper back and forth with is Ted Cruz (and sort of Pikachu but well...) though, but I'm hoping to talk more in the morning. Well, later in the morning technically, as it's 2 AM for me, but like I really need to get some sleep about now, haha.
---------------------------------------
Anyways, quick thoughts on everyone who's sent a message to me, ranked from best to worst.
Ted Cruz - Yeah, this guy seems pretty cool. His "pretending to be a human" gimmick is a bit weird, but it's not overbearing at all and it's pretty easy to talk to him despite that, which is refreshing. I'm actually able to hold a conversation with him, and that's good enough for me for the moment.
Gilly - She seems sweet! She was the first person to PM me, basically just making sure I got a "hello" while I was busy, which was nice! The PM was lacking a bit of substance though, but hopefully conversing with her won't be that hard.
Pikachu - I've sent them like a paragraph-long PM and they respond with a one-liner. I don't think we're going to bond too well, but maybe they'll redeem themselves with their follow-up, idk.
Birdo - She sent me an autograph with just "hey" written on it and that's it. Not a promising introduction.
12 - Oh God why. They're posting gimmick is like awful. I can sort of make out some of the words alright but others are just complete jumbled nonsense. It seems like Ted Cruz is struggling a bit to connect with him too from my talks with him. Probably one of the last players I'd want to be paired with tbh.

First impression time. Pick a Friend, a Threat, and a Fucko. Friend - Ted Cruz Threat - 12? (Not like he's really a threat but I dunno what else to put down) Fucko - ?? I don't even know.

OK so I literally only got like less than 4 hours of sleep last now and have spent the last ~3 hours just constantly messaging people. I'm going to try to confessionalize as much as I can right now before I have to leave in like half an hour.

We here at the Capitol, know it can be a bit...difficult to relate to people right off the bat. It's all such a wild adventure before the real games get started! I've decided to personally spare some of my time in order to help you get started. Chins up, smiles on! 1. How do you feel about your character choice? Do you feel like you can embody the spirit of the victor you've been chosen to portray? Or are you going to just make a whole name for this former winner? 2. Have you had a chance to read the rules? If not, I recommend doing that. If so, what do you think of the Eliminator element to this game? Does this intimidate you or are you excited to prove your skillz? 3. What do you think is the best approach to the first 48 hours? Are you gonna focus more on social bonds or are you going to try super hard in the challenge? What are you specifically hoping for in a partner? Do you want someone who matches you or balances you out? 4. What kinds of challenges are you hoping to see in this competition? Do you think there is a certain type you would be more suited for? Is there a type you are dreading to see? 5. What is the most exciting aspect of this game to you? What are you hoping to get out of this experience? Do you think you have a good shot at winning? What sorts of things do you think you can do to improve your odds to do just that? 1.I choose Stich, firstly, because he's darn adorable, and secondly, because he's basically more/less how I imagine myself playing this game. His whole shtick is "ohana means family, and family means no one gets left behind", and like Stitch I'm going to try my best to connect with as many people as possible and make them all my "ohana", which I think I've been doing an OK job at so far! 2.I read the rules when I applied, but I probably need a refresher soon. I think it mostly just intimidates me, haha. I'm usually fairly mediocre at my challenges and don't do very well under pressure, so if I'm forced in the Eliminator there's a good chance I'd go out, so I have to try my best to not let that happen! It's especially considering that basically anyone who wins the immune challenge has the sole ability to put you up without any objections from anyone else, so it's not good enough to have great relationships with everyone but one pair unless they're especially bad at challenges, b/c if they ever win immunity, it wouldn't spell good news for 'ol Stitch! 3.I hardly even read the challenge yet, lol. I'm probably going to work on that either tonight or tomorrow (probably tomorrow because I'm tired as heck, haha). In regards of a partner, I mostly just want someone who's easy to talk to and whom I can trust pretty comfortably. For me the best candidate for that right now would be Ted Cruz as he fits both of those criteria, but I'll see if that changes with more conversations. 4.I'm hoping to see a lot of Flash games, since apparently I'm fairly decent at those, haha. I really don't want to see like hands on puzzles. Number puzzles like Sudoku is fine, but like Jigsaw on the other hand? Keep that far away from me, please! 5.I think the most exciting part is just being able to play an LSG again, lol. And like testing out the new mechanics and see how this format plays out, because this is the very first time this type of game has been run. I'm mostly hoping to win tbh, lol, but it'll be nice to make some friends along the way as well! I think I have a decent shot at winning? I perform better at team-based challenges, so I don't think the final challenge is going to be that stressful, but I really need to make sure I stay out of the Eliminator as much as possible, which means making as many friends and as few enemies as possible. There being no jury in this game is also good since I don't think anyone's going to go after me for being a "threat" unless they wanna go for spectator cred or something, idk. But yeah I'm just going to try to put my 110% in my social game and hope it all works out in the end, and also make sure my partner doesn't get into any trouble either since we'd be nominated as a pair, after all.

Hello and welcome to the game, after surviving my own hunger games I'm now super excited to watching you guys battle it out to the death. I'm a bit of a betting man and I wanna place some early bets as to who is gonna win so I'd love to get to know some of you a bit more so here's some starter questions for you: 1) Do you have a starting game plan and if so, what is it? 2) How will you determine your rankings of other players? 3) If you win the game, what will you do with the money 4) If you could partner with any spectator who would it be? P.s there is a right answer 5) Tell me a joke/pun about your character 1."Ohana means family, and family means nobody gets left behind or forgotten." Essential, just try to talk to as many people as I can and try to make a good first impression. I want to make sure I get a good partner since that's who I'm going to be spending the large bulk if not the entire game with provided there's not any super early twists. 2.Basically, anyone who's capable of holding a conversation is likely to obtain a high spot. Anyone who I have to try especially hard to hold a conversation with is getting a lower mark from me. I don't really care too much about challenge performance (and have no way to actually gauge that right now either), so yeah my priority is just pairing with someone who I like decently well and whom I click well enough with. 3.Wait, there's a prize pool!? I didn't know that! It kind of depends on how much money. Maybe it's hidden in the rules somewhere, I dunno. But basically it'd be nice if I could buy myself a house, maybe some of the latest consoles. I don't really know what else I'd buy tbh. I'm not an especially fancy alien! 4.Peeta, of course. <3 5.I looked up "Stitch jokes" and it's literally just really bad memes with Stitch plastered on them for no reason. I guess there's no Stitching those up, haha! (Please forgive me, I'm exceedingly bad at jokes)

OK so I'm taking a break from the challenge 'cus it's really hurting my eyes, so for the meantime I wanna go a bit in-depth in my rankings and stuff
====================================
Ted Cruz River Song Kirby Shuichi Saihara Gilly
^ This is the tier of people who I reasonably enjoy talking to. I've talked a bit about Ted before. I'm not as hyped about him as I initially was and I think our conversation kind of died down a bit, but otherwise he's still nice and seems decently well connected too. River Song started messaging me last night and we've been hitting it off pretty well, I think. Good mix of casual talk and light strategizing. Kirby is someone who I held a bad impression of at first since I messaged him the first night and didn't respond for like a good ~18 hours, but when we did start messaging we hit off on the game talk pretty quickly and he's told me a lot about the game state that I didn't know before (which I'll go over more in the lower tiers). Maybe he should be above River actually, idk. Haven't talked to Shuichi too much but he's pretty charming and quirky, and I've liked talking to him so far. Gilly's also just a sweetheart and really nice. ---------------------
Zod Susan
^ These people are also nice to talk to but that I haven't had that many messages with. They both seem pretty cool, but otherwise I don't really have that much more to say about them.
------
Ulysses Fenrir
^ These are people who I haven't talked to but who others have name-dropped as nice people to talk to, and if I can't get any of the players above I'd rather get someone who's decently well connected other someone who I know I'm problem not going to get along with well or is going to be an issue down the line.
---------- Tetra Beetlejuice
^ These people are kind of OK, but I don't have much to say about them otherwise. Beetlejuice is a little quirky. Tetra shares some hobbies of mine and our PMs haven't been that bad but she isn't the best talker I feel.
--------------------
Montreal Impact The Star Worn By Verka Serduchka Birdo Wenya Zhu Donald Duck Coco Pommel Shadow Harbinger
^ Just a more/less random assortment of mostly players I haven't talked to and haven't heard much positive or negative about. I didn't know where to put Birdo. It's kind of uncomfortable to talk to her since she gives very short answers and leaves me to do all the heavy lifting, but their roleplay is kind of endearing? Idk.
-------------------------------
Tracer Pikachu 12 Tapu Lele
^ Players that I know are probably not going to be great to be aligned with (except for maybe Tracer, but we're not really hitting off that well anyways so eh). Pikachu is someone that apparently has a decent social game since I've seen them name-dropped twice but I just can't get anything going with them. Also, according to Kirby he's been leading an anti-12 crusade that's starting to backfire, which could explain why their last messages to me almost came across as cryptic. I'd rather not be aligned with them in case worse comes to worse and they end up with a massive target on their back. 12 is obviously pretty controversial for his gimmick. I don't find them as grating as I initially did, but like Pikachu I don't want to be aligned with him b/c it's likely our pair would be nominated, and I definitely don't want that. Tapu is pretty hard to PM with, which has been confirmed by Kirby and the people he's talked to, so yeah.
===========================
So even though we still have like 7 hours left in the deadline I think my PMing time is just about up since I have to head out for work again in like two hours, which last all the way until like two hours past deadline. I'm kind of anxious players are starting to get worried/paranoid about me since I haven't messaged a lot of players for a while, but I mean as long as I can snag a decent partner I think I'll be content enough. I have no idea how the pairings going to work exactly, if it's going to be based simply on the highest scoring player getting their first pick and then going down the list or if it's going to be some complicated formula that takes everyone's lists into account in some weird weighted system, but I guess I'll wait and see.

Alright, so some more thoughts from me before I go to bed...
I'm pretty glad River's in my PM group. I am sliightly peeved that she kind of led me on like she was going to pick me first, which clearly didn't end up being the case. I wouldn't actually mind it much if she didn't try to play it up that much, but it's not too big of a deal. She's paired with Shuichi too, who I like quite a bit as well, so I'm pretty open to working with her.
I'm also glad Kirby, Zod, and Susan are here too. Ulysses as well since I've been meaning to PM him but couldn't get to him before deadline. In terms of pairings, I'm surprised by a lot of them. River+Shuichi was very obvious, but I didn't really expect Kirby to pick Gilly considering he didn't bring her up at all yet mentioned having pages of content with Ted that flowed pretty well, according to him. I wonder if Ted was expecting Kirby to pick him too, considering there were two players he ranked above me based on what he told me. I didn't expect Susan to pick 12 either considering how controversial he was. Surely someone like Ulysses wouldn't been a safer bet. In fact, it's a bit odd how no one picked him considering there were 8 other tributes above him.
Probably my first step starting tomorrow would be to try to PM everyone in my group I hadn't gotten around to yet. I'm already anticipating Ulysses being a pretty good ally to partner with, but I'm unsure about everyone else so far. I've had a short exchange with Donald that was kind of meh. I'm wondering how much I should talk about game without revealing too much yet not coming across as fake. It isn't that bad to just list a bunch of people you liked talking to, right? I think most players would say River/Kirby/Zod/Susan are pretty good talks too, and I don't think that reveals too much about possible alliances and stuff this early on. I'm thinking it's just surface level enough so that I can at least draw some conversation out of it and see how good Donald would be as a potential ally, because I've got no clue where anywhere stands on him, or anyone else in my PM group that I haven't talked to for that matter.

Also jeez it seems like people are tuning out pretty early tonight! I remember Ted, River, and Kirby still being online right around this hour. I guess that's kind of a good thing, because I really need to regain some lost sleep from that free-for-all PMing madness, haha.

What are your thoughts on players who only confessionalise in the Welcome thread for the entire game?

Post by Stitch on Feb 24, 2020 17:40:23 GMT
Round 2 questions: 1. You are now part of a District! Your District's theme is specifically centered around a specific niche in The Hunger Games. Do you feel like a part of you fits the theme, or is it mostly just a silly gimmick you don't really care much for? Why do you feel this way? 2. As you are in a District, that means you have been paired up with someone. Is this an ideal person for you to be with or do you have reservations? What makes you feel this way? 3. Challenge scores & ratings were put up yesterday. Were there any surprises or did it all pretty much unsurprise you for the most part? What specifically seemed interesting about these ratings? 4. PM groups were decided yesterday, meaning you now have half the amount of people to talk to as you are used to. Is this a relief? Or are you finding some difficulties in trying to now navigate a less open social field? Have you been utilizing your District forum to exchange communication with your partner for the half you are no longer allowed to talk to? (We hope you might at some point so specs can see what sorts of info you are exchanging!) 5. The next challenge is up and it is your first District Challenge for Immunity? How do you feel about your chances? Do you feel your partner will help or hinder your ability to complete it? Elaborate. May the odds be ever in your favor <3 1.I think it fits him pretty decently, considering he's an animal and the island he lives on is pretty foresty iirc. It's probably the best suited district for him, tbh. I think it's pretty cute to try to play along with the theme, and it at least has some synergy with my character, so I don't mind it. 2.He's definitely an ideal partner, considering he was my #1 up until like 15 minutes before deadline, haha. We haven't talked about too much right now after getting paired, but hopefully it won't be hard to get some jamming going. 3.There were surprisingly a lot of pretty good scores! I kind of expected to be right around the middle, which is more/less where I ended up. I still kind of have no clue how the ratings work, lol. I couldn't find an explanation for it anywhere. Is it just based on who the spectators like best? 12 getting a 12 unironically would kind of make sense in that case, since he is quite the character! Me getting a 6 in that case would be fairly understandable too since I haven't had time to use my confessional much. Or maybe they just mean absolutely nothing and are just there to toy with our minds. Idk. 4.I mean honestly it isn't that much different considering I only ended up chatting to like 13~14 players total, lol. But I am relieved there's a smaller social circle so I'll basically be forced to talk to the people I haven't gotten around to yet, which is quite a fair bit! And, uh... I kind of completely forgot the District Forum existed! I'll try to steer conversation more over there for you dear spectators! 5.I feel pretty so-so. Ted got around the same score that I did, which implies at least somewhat that we have similar challenge abilities, but there's a huge variety of different challenges so I can't quite say for sure how much he'd help/hinder me. Tbh, I don't really feel too inclined to win this challenge. I'll try my best, sure, but I don't expect my pair to be put up this early, and while the draw of power is enticing I don't really want to bare the responsibility of being the first one to nominate a pair, so I'd probably be fine not winning. (inb4 I end up being first boot)

Post by Stitch on Feb 24, 2020 17:46:42 GMT
If this was actually just a fight to the death between the characters, who would win? How do you think you would do? I think I wouldn't do too awfully actually considering I have my own laser gun, and just look at my teeth! I can practically bite your head off! But I feel the Pokemon really have the upper hand considering how much training they have. Tapu would probably pull out considering their a legendary. Pretty high special attack, and their Moonblast move hits for a lot too. Harbinger also looks fairly strong but I don't think he'd pull through. I could also see Kirby just sucking everyone one up and claiming victory that way, so long as no one squashes his tiny little body first!

What are your thoughts on players who only confessionalise in the Welcome thread for the entire game? Not good! It makes it pretty hard to read back once the game's over, though I guess it might not be too awful if you're reading it in real time along with the game. I've been thinking about it and I feel it might be a neat idea if in a future LSG the mods decide to manually create a new episode thread for each player to help organize it for them, unless they prefer to lump it all in their Welcome thread, which I don't understand but you do you! I think at the very least it'll be a good idea to give them a little nudge and suggest that they at least consider creating new episode threads, b/c I'd think that wouldn't even cross a lot of newbies minds.

I think I've kind of hit a brick-wall regarding talking game because I kind of have no idea what I'm supposed to talk about, lol. I feel River is being more cagey than I initially expected her to, and she's been kind of leaning on me to do a lot of the conversation lifting lately. It's the same thing with Susan too, but with her I don't really know exactly how I'm supposed to bring up serious game talk so I feel we're kind of in limbo. I've opened up to Ulysses quite a bit though, which initially I thought was a bit rash but like I have instantly good vibes with him, and he and Ted click very well too so I don't really see this going awry.
Donald turned out pretty mediocre from our messaging last night. Not particularly thrilled with Star's opener either which is pretty much just "hi", lol.

So I'm trying to hit it off with Wenya but I'm going to be a bit cautious about what I say. I almost kind of want to lean into her "hating 12" theory a little, but that's not something I entirely stand by and she definitely seems like the no bullshit type of player who'll expose that kind of stuff. I want to at least make a decent impression on her though, even if she does seem like the type who'd be nominated early. Ofc the power could just as easily land in her hands so I don't want to come off as a target to her, but I think it's kind of obvious who she'd put up first if she had the chance, haha.

Me & Ted are probably going to start the challenge in around an hour or so. I've been having pretty good talks with Ulysses so far. Apparently people are floating around the idea of a mega alliance with all the super active/popular players, which idk if it'll actually come to fruition, but I think it's kind of clear what the pecking order is anyhow. I suspect 2 or 6 would be one of the first pairs to be targeted, or maybe anyone in 10~12. Possibly 5 as well, but I have no idea where either of them stand so it's kind of up in the air. I think I'm doing a pretty decent job in terms of my social game. My response time is pretty poor as sometimes it takes me a while to find the right words to say or the right direction to steer the conversation, but I think I've made a good impression on most everyone I've talked to so far. Still need to find the time to talk to Montreal and Harbinger, but according to Ulysses he hasn't heard great things about it so maybe it's not a super high priority atm.

I feel like I have decent enough bonds with the more sociable players around here, and I think I have pretty decent intuition and strategy, so I'll probably contribute by making sure we don't become a target and forming bonds/alliances. 3) Ted & Stitch, based on the title of the movie I'm from. Do not expect anything creative from me in the wordplay department. I tried for like 10 minutes to find something better and couldn't think of anything and just gave up, lol. 4) Perhaps the biggest twist at all -- no twists! I actually have no idea, really. I'll just see what surprises the mod has in store for us! 5) We both write in walls, we both have similar sleep schedules, and we're both (probably) alien.

I'm not sure what Ted Cruz has to do with Zodiacs tbh, but it already sounds much better than mine, lol.
Also!!! I finally managed to message every single person in my PM group. I probably won't be able to get back to Montreal or Harbinger before deadline, but at least I can sleep easy knowing I at least reached out to them! I'm hoping I'm at least good enough with everyone to where they wouldn't even think about putting my pair up in case they won the immunity challenge, which I suppose wouldn't be too hard considering how many low-hanging fruit there are atm. I'm like almost positive me and Ted aren't going to win immunity, which is totally fine since I kind of don't want that responsibility this early anyhow. I think I'll be fine regardless of who wins immunity, though I'm hoping it's one of my allies or someone who's at least somewhat close to me. All of 1, 3, 4 8, and 9 would probably be fine. Potentially 6 and 10 as well. The rest are pretty much wildcards but even then I don't think they'll make too bold of a move. Potentially 2, but I don't think I'm on their radar atm.

Post by Stitch on Feb 25, 2020 21:39:55 GMT
I feel like this game has been the hardest for me in terms of keeping up with my confessional, because I've spent so much of my time messaging people and feel like I'm doing exceptionally well so far? Earlier, Ted mentioned that Gilly wanted to start an alliance between us, Ulysses/Beetlejuice, and Zod/Fenrir. Then Beetlejuice mentioned an alliance between just us and Ulysses. And recently River also mentioned a something of an alliance between our district plus 8, and it's just like stupid perfect. I even seem to be alright with Donald and Wenya, and possibly Tracer and Star too but those are definitely a lot weaker. OK, so before I go to bed I wanna get this out so that you can respond whenever you get on next, 'cus I have to work really early in the morning and might not be able to talk again until after deadline except for like really short messages. I've shot out a message to everyone in my PM group and feel it's a good idea to share our notes regarding who we talked to so we can have a good grasp of who we jive well with. Ulysses is amazing and I've really enjoyed messaging him lately. River and Kirby are also both pretty solid for me. Zod and Susan are a bit less so but still pretty good to talk to. Tracer and Wenya are about alright. Donald and Harbinger are not very great to talk to, and Montreal hasn't gotten back to me yet but I haven't heard great things about him either. So on the whole based on how I like the players I've talked to so far I'd feel pretty comfortable working with districts 1, 4, and 9 the most. 3 and 8 would also be nice to work with. Everyone else I don't have particularly strong feelings about for or against. I get the impression that 2, 6, 11 and 12 are going to be on the low-end of districts that are pretty viable targets for elimination. Ofc it isn't necessary to talk about exactly who we'd want to see go this early, but as long as it's not any of the five I mentioned earlier I think I'd be content with just about anything tbh. Ulysses, River, Kirby, Zod, and Susan were all people that I enjoyed a lot during the shipwreck phase and would be happy to work with. Susan is the only one of those that has a partner I'm not sold on, but as I said earlier, my opinion of 12 is trending upward. I didn't talk much with Tracer, but Birdo's conversation style isn't making her a lot of friends. If Tracer is just alright, District 10 could be one of the viable early targets too, though maybe not this round specifically since they both seem to be active. I'm kind of relieved that District 2 is on the table. Tapu Lele has been so difficult to talk to, both in the initial phase and currently. She just gives me nothing. My conversation with Wenya was going well until it got bad. I'm actually not allowed to say what the issue with my Wenya conversation was. I think it was the kind of thing to temporarily ruin a conversation instead of permanently ruin a relationship, but I'm not sure. Not being able to talk to Wenya this round makes it tougher to assess. But I was worried that my weaker relationships with both of them were rare instead of the common experience, so they wouldn't be on the table for a while. An elimination pool of Districts 2, 6, 11, and 12 is great. I have a pretty good relationship with Pikachu, but he told me he's willing to go to the Eliminator because he's confident he'd beat Donald, and that he might even win by default. I like Tetra too, but she got dealt a really bad hand. Shadow seems resigned to his fate of being a late replacement paired with an inactive. He's not been proactive in his conversations, and multiple people have expressed disappointment about that to me. How's Star? I got next to nothing from them during the shipwreck, but I like Coco more and more as I talk to her. ^ This is the bulk of the conversation me and Ted have had so far, since I haven't really shifted conversation over to our District forum yet (oops!) I mentioned as like a pseudo-joke to someone that someone might want to offer themselves up for the Eliminator just to get to rid of a bad partner, and Pikachu might be that "someone"! Also, not quoted here is a brief conversation where Ted mentioned there being an advantage hidden in the header that was already taken when he tried to hunt for it. I was really hoping there wouldn't be any advantages this game, ugh. And it can kind of literally be anything. I'm hoping to be good enough with everyone so that eventually whoever does have the advantage would just like spill it to me or something, haha.

I am sliightly paranoid for probably no good reason that River hasn't gotten back to me yet in an hour, which normally wouldn't be a big deal except she usually responds to my messages pretty fast compared to other playesr, but yeah I'm sure it's nothing. Or maybe she's just talking to other players about it or something, idk.
