Up until the vote just now, this was the single most boring, predictable game of survivor I'd ever played. There was (supposedly) an alliance between me/Kirby, and districts 3, 7, and 9. And... every vote was an easy inactive vote, because why rock the boat? That was pretty much it. The plan for last vote was to go for the easiest inactive consensus onto district 12, nominate whoever was outside of said alliance, and instant majority in F6. Heck, given District 3 is the challenge threat, we wouldn't even be the first backstab target on the way to F4 or so.
In a sense, I'm honestly glad that got blown up. Don't get me wrong, I like Ulysses; talking with him is the one real-feeling connection I've had this game. District 9 in general is the one Kirby and I are closest with. But I'm glad this went all wrong because it means we're finally playing SURVIVOR. There's a point to the social game again, and the fact that my complacency has come back to bite me in a major way means there are now things to do and plans to talk about. Only for a couple votes, granted, (F4 onwards is almost all challenge based), but it's still something.
Anyway, plans. Obviously we've been betrayed by both Districts 3 and 7. Which one was actually in charge of this is hard to say; Kirby thinks District 1 was the one actually pulling strings (plausible, and if so kind of hilarious given the last minute switch to nominating them.) Regardless, that doesn't actually matter. The ones I can plausibly attempt to pull in are Districts 12, 8, and 3, plus whoever comes out of the eliminator.
Districts 12 and 8 I'm hoping to grab because they might be on the bottom. District 12 in particular can't be that deep into anyone's plans, given they've been to the eliminator twice. District 8 I'm less sure of, but I've heard Susan likes me, so it's worth a shot. They were also the one raised to me as the potential non-12 target; it's possible they'd have been eliminated if not for the nomination switch to 1.
District 3 is the opposite situation. They're the challenge threat, and if anyone's going to be backstabbed because of their endgame challenge potential, it'll be them. Maybe it'll be possible to play on that to get their help for a vote. Alternatively, maybe I can play on that to shift the target to them for a vote. One way or another, it should be a useful tool.
For the eliminator pair, I'm basically hoping it's district 9. District 10 is, at the least, not-completely-impossible, and District 1 is bad, as they'd have a legitimate bone to pick with me and Kirby.

This is an adorable attempt at "Blindside wasn't anyone's fault, really!" It only happened because the target SOMEHOW learned they were being targeted, which had only been told to the people who turned because "there was nothing we could do about it". Am I honestly expected to believe this? I know I'd been checked out of the game until last night, but there's no version of me inactive enough to be that stupid.

Offhand, this is a thing that happens to me sometimes. I play survivor for the strategy aspect. I find merge votes fascinating, and I love the intricate web of connections, plots, and backstabs that forms in a properly fluid merge. My conversation is primarily game focused, because that's what interesting to me, and also because I play to win. This has the consequence that sometimes, when there's nothing interesting happening in the game, my connections suffer. I'm an introvert by nature. I can force small talk when I have to, but it's not me. I approach conversations with a goal, and tend to end them once that goal is met. And so, when there's nothing to talk about, when the grand summary of strategy is "Vote the inactive", my motivation suffers. My conversations degrade, and I can look like a bad player overplaying.
And then people underestimate me. They assume I'm not a threat, and often I'm overlooked in the first backstab against myself and my allies. (Granted, in this case, it's almost certainly because I was immune.)
That's a mistake. I might not be able to sustain a dozen conversations full of meaningless small talk, but I can navigate complicated alliances. I can rally the minority, play on the fears of the ones on top, and be the social, charming player you need to be to succeed in these games. I've done it before, and I think I can do it here, I just need a reason to go to all that effort. Sometimes games are hard for me because I have very little motivation to play a boring game.
But this game just got interesting.

Spectator questions! Halfway point! Congratulations teams!!! 1) How much sway did you have in the last vote? Did you want D9 to be sent, are you happy with who came back? 2) Gimmie a quick rankings of the other 5 Districts in order from next boot to who you wanna face in the final. Feel free to say why 3) There's no Jury in this game, nobody to hold you accountable for how you play, how does this change how you play? 4) For viewers at home who have just tuned in, give us an update on the first half of the game, do it in one of the following styles a) Olaf from Frozen 2, b) Luis from Ant-Man c) The start of a TV show giving you a 'Previously on' 5) What's the plan to get the end of from here

idk I don't think it will work. Word has gotten to tetra that we're targets. My trust for tracer is 0%, I think she's out to get ~threats~ like us, and I doubt Ulysses wants to fight it, he probably just wants to go to endgame, and probably not with us If we win the challenge, we win a 3-3 tie, but I am NOT trusting D10 at all right now and I think they are trying to push us out to slide to F4 (emphasis added) Damn it all. The last thing I need right now is another information leak. Regardless, update time! D10 I'm almost certain is with us. Ulysses/Tracer is close to the best case scenario of who could have come out of the eliminator for me. Very happy with that. D12 is the next most likely to be with us. I've gone to them, told them pretty much everything, and offered them an alliance and F3 with me and D10. If they stay loyal and we win this vote, then the social game is straight-up done. We'd have majority in F5 and F4, so at that point the only thing left is to win challenges. However, they have some level of connection with D8, which worries me. D8 is a wildcard that I suspect is not on my side. Susan just hasn't put any effort into messaging me since last round. Given that she was in the "Active player not allied with me" list, and the way information was leaking, she almost certainly knows I was considering nominating her last round. I suspect I'm her target. Le sigh. D3 is interesting. They're clearly untrustworthy as all get-out and trying to play all sides, but Zod has sounded legitimately worried, almost panicked in his messages to me today. I think they feel insecure about their position in the game, and I also think I can use that. If nothing else, I'd rather target D7 this vote if possible. D7 is the preferred target. They're good players, social as all get-out, backstabbed me last round, and the pair has messaged me least out of anyone (barring Susan). I think we both realize battle lines have been drawn at this point. Nothing to do but play it out.

Had no idea D9 was going, was very unhappy about that (well, from a gameplay perspective. In a different sense, it was very nice to finally be playing survivor again), and I'm extremely happy Ulysses made it back. 2) See the previous post. D10 is my top choice for who I want with me in the final, D7 ideally the next boot. 3) It honestly doesn't make much difference. Main thing is that social threat is no longer a meaningful concern as far as taking people to endgame. Although I usually don't worry about that when playing anyway, so... 4) I don't actually know any of those styles. So here's the abridged version "Everyone voted inactives. The end." 5) Have someone in the alliance of me/D10/D12 win the challenge, use that to win the TC, then ride an F3 pact with them as far as possible. Hopefully win the important challenges in endgame.

Honestly, I get the feeling this just isn't going to work. I don't really have any hard evidence to back this up, it's just a gut feeling I have. Maybe it's just me, I don't know.
