I'm a little surprised personally that the core idea fell so flat. The central idea of the game was that you developed a relationship with your partner who you collaborated with until you entered the Eliminator. Once sent to the Eliminator, the game was meant to change for you from a pair game to an individual game. Going to the Eliminator means that you team is dead, full stop. I definitely understand what the intention was! It's just that in my opinion, people are less likely to be invested when it's basically an individual game, but so much of their game is tied to their partner's performance. Having a partner with an awful social game or who doesn't work well with you in pair challenges doesn't mean that they're going to be easy to beat in an elimination. The chance at getting a better partner isn't worth a 50/50 chance of elimination to most people. So people end up feeling trapped. A huge key to a fun game is making the players feel like they have agency. If the players don't feel like they have agency, they won't bother putting effort into socializing or strategizing.

I am a little sad that people need to be so heavily incentivized to care about another player outside of their immediate or endgame utility. Yeah that wasn't my point, it was a lemma to a point that, well Kat made far better than I did. It's not that people need to be incentivized to care about another player. It's that the game gave a specific and large mechanical DISincetive towards the longest lasting relationship in the game, which in a pairs game, causes a lot of dissonance. Like that mechanic was like "hi meet each other, you get to work together and always talk to each other also one of you is almost certainly going to kill the other, no real way around that." Like it is a novel concept, but looking back on it, it isn't surprising that that dissonance and lack of agency would lead to lukewarm reception.

Agreed on that note. I really liked Beetlejuice, and he was my closest ally in the entire game by far-- so knowing that probabilities dictated that one of us had to die to get further in the game was kind of disheartening.
The only way to play around that kind of disincentive would be to partner with someone that you didn't mind losing-- but to that end, you still NEED to rely on your partner for challenges, which is how Shadow kept on getting screwed over. It's a bit of a pick your poison situation, where you're forced to be with someone that you can like and rely on-- but in the end, one of you will have to kill the other-- or alternatively, you pick someone that you wouldn't mind losing and lose challenges and get ostracized for it, and on top of that, you're not even guaranteed to survive in the eliminator against said crappy partner because of the element of randomness that comes along with it.

I hope you don’t feel like this is a personal attack, I think everyone is just trying to help make the format more enjoyable for the players in future iterations of the game, which I hope are in the cards!

I mean call me a dummy but Shuichi was my bestie for the restie or until one of us died lol. But, again, he was the best partner! I would have also died for Susan. There was also quite a long time where I viewed Stitch, with Ted being right there with him, as people I would also do whatever necessary to protect. Which I basically ended up doing kind of. If my partner had been someone else perhaps I would have had different feelings but I was also the weaker (challenge wise) partner in the pair so that may also have given me a deeper shade of rose colored glasses?
I thought I was going to be a little more chaotic this game, tbh. But dang flabbit I just couldn’t not be all in with Shuichi! I think if perhaps I was separated from my original partner earlier on I could have seen myself feeling less attached and doing what it took to survive but that wasn’t my experience so I became fiercely loyal instead.

Against all odds, D12 has somehow pulled out a win in this challenge! It seems this district is peaking at the right time perhaps?

If Wenya Zhu makes it to the finals it's going to be awkward explaining to them that I did not throw that challenge

I'm so happy for District 12! We're here for the underdog district to slay them all.
Wenya Zhu is my favorite and I'm not sorry about it

Ngl, district 12 winning would be an absolutely hilarious and a great comeback, especially since they were the alternate to us going into the eliminator since we were the "big threat"

Prediction: Districts 3 and 7 get thrown into the Eliminator for dominating for far too long, creating a horrific 'Hyrbid' of two challenge beasts that end up dominating and eventually winning the rest of the game.

Also, Wenya sucks in terms of conversational skills and building up alliances. Literally told Susan that there was a 4-10-12 alliance gearing up to take out Districts 3 and 7 and pagong everyone else-- but not as a pitch to alienate her, as a pitch to try to get her to vote with us.
Tetra seems to have been the only thing keeping them from spiraling into a flaming nosedive and being wiped out completely.

Yeah I get that. I think that this has just been a lot and there are a lot of people who want to voice individual issues in a kind of stream of consciousness thought while mods deal with the game constantly being on fire. Also there's a plague now.

I hope this doesn't happen, but it's a very real possibility, especially with 12 Immune. Then again, maybe Tetra and Kirby could take on Stitch and Fen. But I'm genuinely not sure what 12's best move is if they want to win. Maybe they don't want to remain a pair, but if that's the case they need to make this hybrid as weak as possible while still eliminating threats. This is the last time it's in the players' hands at all (unless they throw, which Kirby is currently planning to do, so that's an interesting wrinkle too). I hope they make the most of it. I do think 3 and 7 will be sent, but idk if that's best for 12. Maybe it is.

Yeah I would love a Tetra win, and I think it's pretty possible.
I also like that Kirby is wanting to drop Susan, so Kirby and Tetra (or Wenya) probably are my dream team at this point. And it would be fitting for them to go against villains Fen and Stitch (or Ted) and emerge triumphant (not that I dislike Fen and Stitch, but if Kirby, Tetra, and Wenya are our heroes, they are pretty clear villains imo).
I can't really place Tracer in a hero or villain category. I really liked the group of 4-10-12 that existed for a while (even if Wenya was messy as hell with it, kween) and her partnership with Ulysses, but now that she's linked up with Fen she's joined the dark side. For narrative purposes it would make sense for her to go home this round. We need Fen to represent OG District 3 as the final boss to be defeated.
