I'm trying to understand if the "armpits" just look like really small petals or if the rounded part is faced in the opposite direction. Like, if you extended out the bumps of the creases, would they hit the border or the face of the star? I'm trying to find the best way to explain it.

I still don't really understand, but they don't look like small petals.

The "armpits" point inward to the face while the petals/appendages point outward.

OK, got it. Is the "crotch" like in the middle of the mouth, would you say? Does it just look like a bigger "armpit" or there a bit more detail than that?

The "crotch" is to the left of the middle of the mouth. It looks like the others, it just happens to be at the bottom so it looks like it's between two legs.

The bottom right appendage is about as wide and long as the mouth. The right appendage is slightly wider than the mouth and about 3/4 as long. Just for clarifcation, the "bottom right" flower is directly to the right of the biggest petal, and the "right" appendage is next to that in the rotation, correct? Also, how much longer is the largest petal compared to the bottom right appendage?

Oh yeah, and the armpits are pretty small, right? About the size of an eye or so? (Except for the biggest one you mentioned earlier)

The biggest petal is the top, which leans to the right. The bottom right is directly to the right of the smallest petal.
The bottom right is about 70% as long as the top.
About the size of an eye seems right.

How close is the largest flower to the top of the border?

*Largest petal, at it's tip.

Pretty close. It's not touching or about to touch, but it's very close up there.

This is taking a lot longer than I expected it to. I don't think we'll be finishing tonight. Time only matters for tie-breaking, so it should be fine if we stop in the middle.

Yeah, same. Let me check on something real quick.

How much longer will you be around for? I have to head to bed in about a half hour.

Half an hour sounds good.

OK, so the star I have right now looks like a really messed up starfish with a bunch of mis-sized appendgaes. It doesn't even look too much like a starfish, more like one of those slimey toys or something, I'm not exactly sure how to describe it. Does that sound too far off base? I think I messed up a bit of the proportions but I tried my best to draw it as well as i could.

That sounds exactly right LOL.

Should I move on to the next element?

Yep! Just did a few finishing touches and I think it's about as well as I can get it, might tinker with it a bit more later. Let's try to get at least partway through the next element rn.

This is a semicircle that starts at the bottom right of image. It's not an exact semicircle but like the top portion of one. The left edge is like 15% away from the left edge of the template. Its highest point is also about 15% of the way up. Fill the inside of it with a dark blue, distinct from the light blue background. Think of the ocean on a globe, because that's what this is. The land masses are going to be a pain in the ass.

Oh wait a second, I almost forgot to color in the flower! So like the entire body of the flower is like purple, correct? There's no extra details or colorings associated with that? And the mouth is pink too, correct?

|
|
Post by Stitch on Mar 5, 2020 5:03:04 GMT
So the top half of a semicircle? How big is the circle compared to the star's mouth or petals, or whatever other comparison is convenient for you? And it's basically just a semi-circle, right? Nothing super fancy about it?

You're correct.

The coloring of the star got screwed up so no it looks like it's sick with like light blue chicken pox or something, lol. I'll fix it later.

That would explain its surprised look! (I think it's reacting to elements that I haven't described yet.)
